this is my flame tree. well actually it’s the neighbours, but i like to pretend it’s mine. (and i recently learned that it’s technically a coral tree- but i like flame tree better!) i love this time of year- for so long the tree has been bare and now suddenly it’s full of amazing red blooms. it attracts all the birds and brightens my view on grey days. i mean look at it, are they not the funkiest flowers and such an amazing colour?! and it’s even more impressive because there are no leaves for the flowers to compete with. without fail, every year, the flames arrive and bring a smile to my face.
